About Karen Greenberg, LCSW

With a down-to-earth, warm, and empathic approach, I create therapeutic relationships built on trust—where you can feel heard, understood, and truly known.
My goal is not to fix you, but rather to help you build a life that feels more aligned with your values, relationships, and sense of self. Therapy is a collaborative process, one that allows space for reflection, honesty, and growth at a pace that feels right for you.
Who I Work With
I work with high-achieving individuals and couples who may look successful on the outside but are experiencing challenges beneath the surface.
Many of the people I see are
Experiencing burnout or ongoing stress.
Contemplating divorce or navigating relationship challenges.
Moving through personal or professional transitions.
Struggling with perfectionism or work-life balance.
These experiences can feel isolating, especially when others may not fully see what’s happening internally. Therapy provides a space where those challenges can be explored openly and without judgment.
What Therapy With Me Feels Like
What does therapy with me feel like?
I begin from a psychodynamic perspective, which means we explore your past and how your experiences, thoughts, and behaviors have shaped who you are today. This process helps identify patterns and opens the door for meaningful change.
I don’t believe we are blank slates meant to relive our past—but I do believe it’s important to understand where we come from and the impact it has on how we move through the world.
In our sessions:
- You may cry.
- You will likely laugh.
- You can swear.
- You can disagree with me.
I may also suggest readings or practical exercises to support your growth outside of sessions.

My Background and Experience
I attended Sarah Lawrence College and Loyola University Chicago.
Before starting my private practice, I worked in a variety of settings, including: community mental health, social justice world & healthcare non-profit.
These experiences have shaped the way I approach therapy—balancing emotional depth with a practical understanding of real-life challenges.
